To write about the transgender community and LGBTQ culture is not to write about two separate entities. It is to write about a vital organ within a living body. Without the transgender community, LGBTQ culture would lack its revolutionary edge, its philosophical depth, and its most potent symbol of living one’s truth. When they remain silent, they fracture the community. You cannot discuss LGBTQ culture without discussing drag.
